Kinja'd!!!

We are hearing a subtle World noise it gets louder with speed especially on the highway it does not change when braking or turning. The sound is coming from the front driver side. I thought it sounded like an echo from the tire. it does not sound like a high-pitched screech. my brother-in-law thought it was a wheel bearing.  There are no marks on the disc brake. the lug nuts were very very hot after a short drive the caliper is not stuck either and there is no pulling

Fwd? CV joint maybe? No idea why the lug nuts would be hot

Does it change pitch as you transfer weight from corner to corner on the car, sounds like a bearing noise.

What’s the vehicle? If you go to replace it, don’t cheap out, timkin, ac delco, moog, but nothing less.

If the bearing is heating up, the lugs could get hot as well, it’s all part of the assembly. Sounds like it needs to be replaced asap.

Sounds like a bearing. Pretty sure it’s a pressed in unit on that model Camry (if the pic is the car in question).

Put the wheel back on, and check for play before letting it back down. Grip at 12 and 6 to eliminate steering play.

I meant if it was a CV issue. If the bearing was heating up it shouldn’t spin freely and should make noise when they turned it by hand. Which I’m assuming they did because they checked to make sure the caliper isn’t seized.

I don’t think it’s a bearing. It’s not a squeal. the wheel spin easily

I’ve had bad wheel bearings not give much issue unless driving at speed. And if it’s on a drive wheel, you probably aren’t spinning it quick enough to get a noise while it’s off the ground. If you pull the rotor and the axle shaft out, you’ll hear and feel the grinding bearing if it’s bad. At least that way you’re not out any parts costs to diagnose. But my money is on a bad bearing. Any ABS warnings or traction control error messages? If so, that would also indicate a bearing issue.

No errors. We did jack the front end up and gave it some gas. Got up to 30 or 40 with no noise
